Anna E. (Ferguson) Hallisey, 79; survived by five sons

TOWNSEND — Anna E. (Ferguson) Hallisey, 79, of 61 West Elm Street, died Friday, July 3, 2009 at the University of Massachusetts Memorial Medical Center, Worcester, after a brief illness.

Her husband, Richard A. Hallisey, died in May 2000.

She is survived by five sons, and a daughter-in-law: Richard R. Hallisey, Michael and Rita Hallisey, Paul E. Hallisey, Philip J. Hallisey, all of Townsend, and Steven P. Hallisey of Nashua, NH. She leaves two brothers, Paul D. Ferguson of California, Francis O. Ferguson of Sandwich; two sisters, Ethel Mattson of Ashby and Florence Pelletier of New York; and a granddaughter, Ashley Lynn Hallisey Moore.

She was the sister of the late David Ferguson of Greenville, NH, who died in 2003.

Mrs. Hallisey was born in Westport, Massachusetts, July 13, 1929, a daughter of William and Myrtle (Chace) Ferguson, and as a young girl moved to Vermont. While in Vermont she attended a one room schoolhouse in a town without electricity. She later moved to New Ipswich, NH, and following her marriage, moved to West Townsend in 1951 where she has since resided.

Mrs. Hallisey worked several years in the kitchen at the Bull Run Restaurant, Shirley, retiring in 1994. Prior to that she worked many years at Sterilite Corporation in Townsend and Bemis Bag Company in Pepperell.

She had attended the Townsend Congregational Church where she served as a Sunday School teacher. She was a member of the Townsend Golden Agers.

A funeral service was held Wednesday, July 8, at the T.J. Anderson & Son Funeral Home, 250 Main Street (Rte 119), Townsend Center. Please see www.andersonfuneral.com for additional information.

Burial was in Riverside Cemetery, Townsend.
