The Pepperell Cultural Council is part of a grass-roots network of 329 local councils that serve every city and town in the state. The program is the largest, most decentralized one of its kind in the United States. The state Legislature provides an annual appropriation to the Massachusetts Cultural Council, which then allocates funds to each local council. Decisions about which activities to support are made at the community level by a board of municipally appointed volunteers.

The Pepperell Cultural Council will again seek grant applications in the fall for the 2010 calendar year. Information and forms are available at Lawrence Library or online at the Massachusetts Cultural Council Web site — — and are due Oct. 15..

The Pepperell Cultural Council welcomes new members. If you have an interest in joining, call Linda Shaw at 978-433-0231.
