SHIRLEY — All seniors over age 60 from Shirley and surrounding towns are welcome to participate in a no-to-low-impact aerobic workout combined with weights to accommodate your individual abilities. Over $20,000 of equipment was donated to Shirley Council on Aging by Fidelity Bank.
Workout sessions will be held at the soon-to-be-renovated Senior Center at the former Center School in Shirley center.
Grand opening session will take place on Saturday, March 21 from 9 a.m. to noon. All are welcome to come and learn about the machines and give them a try.
Subsequent sessions each week are:
Mondays (starting March 23), 9 a.m. to noon; Wednesdays (starting March 25), 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.; Friday (starting March 27), 9 a.m. to noon; Saturdays (starting March 28), 9 a.m. to noon.
The first month will be offered free to all seniors over age 60. Thereafter, the fee charge for maintaining equipment is $2 per month. The fee will be waived for anyone of any age who wishes to volunteer to help at the drop-in center. Water will be available; donations are appreciated.
Training video will be playing to describe the workout sessions. All new participants are encouraged to review the tape for proper use of the machines. Waivers must be signed.
