SHIRLEY — Philip M. Lamoreaux, 83, died unexpectedly on Monday, March 23, 2009, at Emerson Hospital, Concord.
Mr. Lamoreaux was born in Concord on Sept. 15, 1925, a son of Fredrick and Eleanor (Wood) Lamoreaux, and has resided in Shirley for nearly 60 years.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Adele (Cavanaugh) Lamoreaux; four sons, Jonathan C. Lamoreaux, of Meredith, N.H., Jason P. Lamoreaux, of Shirley, Justin M. Lamoreaux, of Center Harbor, N.H., and Jamie A. Lamoreaux, of Hudson, N.H.; two daughters, Jennifer M. Borden, of Westport, and Judith Pompbriant, of Sierra Vista, Ariz. He also leaves three grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
He was the brother of the late Richard Lamoreaux, of Carlisle, and Evangeline Hazlet, of Kennebunk, Maine.
For 30 years, Mr. Lamoreaux worked in the Shirley area as a rural mail carrier for the United States Post Office before retiring 20 years ago.
He grew up in Bedford and was a graduate of Lexington High School. He continued his education at the University of Massachusetts-Amherst, where he received a bachelor of arts degree in agriculture.
During WW II, Mr. Lamoreaux served his country in the United States Army Air Force.
Funeral services and burial will be at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours.
