HARVARD — Joan M. (Ford) Greene, 76, died Sunday, March 22, 2009, at the Nashoba Valley Medical Center, Ayer, after a lengthy illness.
Mrs. Greene was born in Cambridge on May 5, 1932, a daughter of the late Daniel J. and Anna (Gallagher) Ford and has resided in Harvard for over 40 years. She was a graduate of St. Clement’s High School in Medford.
For 12 years, Mrs. Greene worked in town of Harvard Assessors Office, before retiring in 1994. Prior to that she worked at New England Telephone Company.
She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Richard B. Greene; her sister, Nancy Eveleth, of Peabody; and four daughters, Donna M. Greene-Swann and Sheila J. Greene-Day, both of Leominster, Cheryl A. Price, of Lunenburg and Carol Anne Wegener, of Marlboro. She also leaves seven grandchildren: Ricky, Mike, Tanner, Kayla, Tyler, Nick and Kimberly.
She was the mother of Brian R. Greene, of Fitchburg, who died last month and the sister of the late Donald Ford, of Reading.
She enjoyed knitting, swimming, gardening, cooking and was an avid tennis fan. She had attended St. Theresa’s Church, in Harvard.
