BOXBORO — Ruth E. (Jones) Smith, 80, formerly of Acton and Ayer, died Wednesday, Dec. 10, 2008, at the Nashoba Valley Medical Center after a month-long struggle with pancreatic cancer.
Mrs. Smith was born in Athens, Maine, on Jan. 26, 1928, a daughter of Ray and Emma (Swanson) Jones and resided in Ayer and Acton before moving to Boxboro 22 years ago.
For the past 16 years Mrs. Smith worked in the stockroom at The Shanklin Corporation in Ayer.
Mrs. Smith leaves her husband of 60 years, Albion L. Smith; and a daughter, Nancy M. Davids and her significant other, Jeffrey Orr, both of Harvard. She also leaves several nieces and nephews.
