Charter Communications Service Restoration Update
Wednesday, Dec. 17, 2 p.m.
Charter Communications is continuing to bring in additional crews from New York, Vermont and Connecticut to help with our efforts to repair our plant and restore service to our customers in central MA and southern NH.
We are aware of about 3,000 cable drop lines that were knocked down by last week’s storm, and we will have repaired about 1,500 of those by this evening. We expect to have enough crews in place tomorrow (Thursday) to restore another 1,000. Beginning Friday, much of our restoration effort will be dependent upon the weather. If there is significant snow, it is difficult and dangerous for our crews to be climbing ladders while snow plows are operating. Where conditions permit, our crews will be operating at full capacity.
Power outages continue to hamper our recovery efforts, but as National Grid and the municipal power companies make progress at restoring service, many of our customer are coming back on line as well.
We are continuing to encourage Charter customers who have the cable drop line from their house to the street down, and those Charter customers whose electricity has come back on but their Charter service did not, to contact us via e-mail at CharterRecovery@chartercom.com or by phone at 1-888-GetCharter or 1-888-438-2427.
In addition, we would like hear from those customers who have a service call scheduled and find that their service has come back on. This will save us an unnecessary trip and help us more efficiently respond to those who are still without service.
Those who call should follow the prompts for Technical Assistance (#3) until you reach a Customer Care Agent. This should take less than a minute.
Charter’s Customer Care agents are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. In addition, Charter has a number of customer service offices.
