SHIRLEY — Shirley dog licenses for 2009 are on sale now and can be purchased through the Town Clerk’s Office.
All dogs must be licensed each year as required by town and state laws. A valid rabies certificate must be included with your request for a license or be file at the Town Clerk’s Office.
The Animal Control Officers have set the cost for 2009 licenses at $15 per dog. This cost is valid through January 31, 2009. The cost for a license increases to $20 on Feb. 1, because it includes a $5 late fee, in accordance with town bylaw. The late fee does not apply if the dog is new to town or is under 6 months of age.

Please note that owners who received a notice from the Animal Control Officers earlier this year and have not yet licensed their dogs still need to pay for the 2008 license as well!
Dog Licenses may be purchased by mailing the following to the Town Clerk’s Office at 7 Keady Way, Shirley, MA 01464:
*a check for $15 (for each 2009 dog license) made out to the town of Shirley
*a self-addressed stamped envelope (include postage of $0.42 for 1-2 licenses and $0.59 for 3-4 licenses)
*a valid rabies certificate (unless we already have one on file for your pet). The certificate will be mailed back to you.
*a completed 2009 Dog License Application or a note with the following information Owner’s Name, Street Address, Mailing Address, Telephone Number (pls indicate if it is unlisted), Name of Dog, Breed, Color, Approx. Date of Birth, and Gender of Dog (Male, Male Neutered, Female or Female Spayed). Blank 2009 Applications are available on the Clerk’s page of the town website (www.shirley-ma.gov ), at Hazen Memorial Library and at the Town Clerk’s Office.
