Saturday, Dec. 13

“In a Manger” exhibit: 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church, 7 Faulkner Street; The seventh annual “In a Manger” Nativity Exhibition at St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church will include more than 200 Nativity sets from around the world. Some of the Nativity scenes are family heirlooms, and others are folk art Nativity sets collected by parishioners and area Massachusetts residents. The public is welcome to display their favorite Nativity scenes and ornaments by dropping them off at the Parish Hall before noon on Friday, Dec. 12, with pickup after noon on Sunday, Dec. 14. Other highlights of the day include a children’s activity table, homemade cookies and cider, and a hand-knit Nativity raffle. Admission is free. Holiday Stroll: 4-8 p.m., downtown Ayer; See what downtown has to offer. Vote for the best decorated storefront windows. Merchant’s basket raffle will be drawn at Tuba Christmas concert on Dec. 14.

Sunday, Dec. 14

Tuba Christmas: A Tuba Christmas concert will take place Sunday, Dec. 14 at 2 p.m. at Town Hall. Tuba Christmas features an entire band of all tuba players from all over New England, playing traditional Christmas carols and other holiday favorites. This is another free holiday event sponsored by the Ayer Business Alliance and open to the public.

Sunday breakfast: 7-10 a.m., Ayer Gun & Sportsmen’s Club, Snake Hill Road. Full breakfast menu, every Sunday until Mother’s Day.

Breakfast: Shirley American Legion will host an “all you can eat” breakfast from 9 to 10:30 a.m. at the War Memorial building on Church Street in Shirley. Adults, $8; seniors 65 and over and kids under 10, $6.

Home-delivered meals are available to all seniors Monday through Friday. Supper meals and meals for the weekend are also available. Gift certificates for seniors

The Council on Aging has gift certificates available for all seniors at the Senior Center. Give a senior transportation on the MART van at $1 to $2 each way, depending on local or out of town trip. Or, give a hot lunch at $2 per meal, or a COA trip, with a certificate to pay for transportation and meal! Call the Senior Center for more information: (978) 772-8260.

Public forum on regionalization

The Ayer members of the Ayer-Lunenburg-Shirley School Regionalization Planning Board will hold a public meeting on Monday, Jan. 5, 2009 from 7 to 8:30 p.m. in the Middle/High School Cafeteria. There will be a brief update on the activities to date. The members will then answer any questions posed by the public and most importantly, seek public input about the planning process and overall perspectives about regionalization. Members of the Regional Planning Committee and the School Committee will be attending.

Free meal

Please come join us at Apple Valley Baptist Church for a free meal every Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 12 Columbia St., behind North Middlesex Savings Bank, from 5:30 to 6 p.m.

COA Café

The Ayer Senior Center serves hot meals to seniors on Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays at noon. All meals are a $2 donation. Please call ahead to make a reservation: (978) 772-8260.
