The Syrian Bride: 6:30 p.m., Lawrence Academy, Richardson-Mees Performing Arts Center; Screening by the Groton Film Society of “The Syrian Bride” about a Druze girl in Israel’s Golan Heights who is marrying a Syrian and once she crosses the border she can never move back. Free to Society members, $15 for one-time non-member pass at the door.

Wednesday, Dec. 17

Mother Goose Storytime: 10:30-11 and 11:15-11:45 a.m., Groton Public Library; First library experience for infants and toddlers with stories, songs, fingerplay and puppets. No registration required. Limited to 15 children, first-come first-served.

Animé & Manga: 7-8 p.m., Groton Public Library; Meeting of the new Animé & Manga Club; bring your sketch books if you draw or plan to discuss your favorite Japanese animation. Intended for grades six and up.

Holiday Party: Noon, Groton Senior Center; Lunch by the Groton Woman’s Club followed by the “Come Back Kids” for your listening and dancing (and maybe sing-along) pleasure. Bring a $5 wrapped gift (labeled male, female or either) and expect to leave with a different one! Limit 50 for lunch, unlimited for party. Call 978-448-1170.
