ASHBY — The Ashby police have filed additional charges against a woman who gave false identification information to police when arrested for breaking into a house and car on Oct. 26.

Police say that Amy Marie Bassett, 42, homeless, was caught by police after residents arrived home and found her sitting in their running car. Bassett identified herself as Jessica Goguen, of Ashburnham, during booking and in court.

The real Jessica Goguen, 40, of Ashburnham, was alerted by a coworker that her name was in the paper as being arrested for breaking and entering. Goguen then called the Ashby police and reported that her sister, Bassett, had allegedly given her name to police in the past when being arrested.

Bassett was released from Ayer District Court on the original charges. Ashby police have filed the additional charge of furnishing a false name or Social Security number to a law enforcement officer, a misdemeanor.
