ASHBY — The Ashby police have charged Seth Pease, 33, of 67 Luke Road, Ashby, in connection with several stolen cars and thefts from cars on Erickson Road in Ashby.
Over the past three weeks, three cars were stolen from driveways, only to be recovered a short distance away undamaged. There were also incidents where unlocked cars were entered and items including cell phones and tools were stolen. All of the crimes occurred in a small area of a quiet neighborhood.
Police conducted extra patrols, a crime prevention campaign through e-mails and fliers, and an investigation. They eventually focused on Pease, who lives nearby. All of the cars and some of the other property has been recovered. Pease has so far been charged with receiving stolen property more that $250 (a felony), larceny of less than $250 (a misdemeanor), and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle (a felony).
