PEPPERELL — Ivan R. Williams Jr., 76, died Friday, Oct. 31, 2008, at Lowell General Hospital. He was born in Gloucester on July 3, 1932, son of the late Ivan R. and Lucybelle (Smith) Williams. He attended Gloucester public schools. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1951 to 1955, including tours on the USS Bennington and at Quonset Point Naval Air Station in Rhode Island. After leaving the Navy, he returned to work in the family’s fishing business aboard the trawler “Dolphin” before beginning a career in the electronic manufacturing and assembly industry. Prior to his retirement, Mr. Williams was a partner and vice president of IKE Industries, in Nashua, N.H.

In 1955, he married the late Kathleen Cox of Pawtucket, R.I., and in 1964 they moved to Pepperell. He is survived by his children, Ivan (Randy) and Kristine Williams, of Bedford, N.H., Eric and Jennifer Williams, of Maple Grove, Minn., and Linda Williams, of Merrimack, N.H.; three granddaughters, Danielle, Erin and Amanda Williams, of Maple Grove, Minn.; his brothers and sisters, Alvin and Fanny Williams, of Gloucester, Dorothy Silva, of Gloucester, Shirley and Herbert Conrad, of Hudson, Marilyn and Donald Brennan, of Northboro, and Ruth and Peter Hickey, of Gloucester; a sister-in-law, Judith Williams, of Rockport; and many nieces and nephews.

Mr. Williams was predeceased by a son, Terence Williams; brothers Murray and Leslie Williams; and a sister, Judith Williams.

A funeral service was held on Thursday, Nov. 6 at the Hamilton-McGaffigan Funeral Home, Pepperell.
