AYER — Bessie Beatrice Kimball, 86, formerly of Pepperell, died on Nov. 2, 2008, from breast cancer at Apple Valley Nursing Home in Ayer.

She was the beloved wife of Charles Kimball, with whom she had recently celebrated their 66th wedding anniversary. Bessie was born in Westboro on Dec. 26, 1921, the daughter of Charles W. and Emma (Bowley) Boyce. Bessie is survived by sons Lewis Kimball and his wife, Bonnie; Richard Kimball and his wife, Debbie; John Kimball; and Larry Kimball and his wife, Denise, all of Pepperell; daughter Audrey Kimball, of Dunstable; nine grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Bessie graduated from Lunenburg High School in 1939. She was foremost a mother and homemaker, but also served as the recreation director at Park Manor Nursing Home in Pepperell, and owner and bookkeeper of Kimball’s Sunoco in Pepperell. Bessie was predeceased by siblings Charles Keyes, Lillian Barrett, Clifton Boyce, Esther Smith, Ida Tule and Evelyn Ametta.

Funeral services will take place on Friday, Nov. 7 at 2 p.m. at the Community Church of Pepperell. Visiting hours are Thursday, 4-7 p.m. at the Hamilton-McGaffigan Funeral Home, 37 Main St. (Route 113), Pepperell. Relatives and friends kindly invited.
