On Wednesday, June 18, the Ayer-Shirley Lions Club held their second annual spaghetti dinner fund-raiser at Dan’s Place on West Main Street in Ayer. In a short time, this event has become a popular community event. Everyone enjoyed a fine meal of garden salad, spaghetti, meatballs, sausage and Italian bread prepared by Dan and served by the members of the Ayer-Shirley Lions. It also was a fun, social evening.
Again this year, the proceeds will benefit Lions charities. Locally, the Lions provide assistance for eyeglasses to those in need and provide specialized equipment to assist the visually impaired. In conjunction with all Massachusetts Lions, we also contribute to research programs to find cures for preventable forms of blindness.
The members of the Ayer-Shirley Lions wish to thank everyone that had dinner with us this year and hope to see everyone back next year. We also want to give special thanks to our sponsors, and especially to Dan for again allowing us the use of his restaurant and for his time donated in preparing the food.
We are already planning for next year and ask everyone to mark their calendars for Wednesday, June 17, 2009, and join with us for our third annual spaghetti dinner.
Again, thank you for making this another successful event.
