Independence Day: 1 p.m. parade starts at Hannaford (with decorated bicycles and baby carriages joining at the Rail Trail parking lot) and ending at Pirone Park with various vendors, games and music until 9 p.m. Town fireworks at dusk.

Safety camp

Ayer Fire Safety Camp will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 1 at the Ayer High School and is open to children entering grades one to five. Registration forms are currently at the Ayer fire station, the Ayer library and the Ayer Childcare Program. For more information, call the fire station at (978) 772-8231.

Volunteer Fair

Participate in the town of Ayer’s first Volunteer Fair!

The Ayer Communication Committee invites all clubs and organizations seeking to raise awareness of their volunteer needs to participate in the first-ever Volunteer Fair, being held at Town Hall on Saturday, Sept. 13.

In addition to the fair, the committee will host a workshop in August on volunteer recruitment and retention. Please go to the Ayer Web site at www.ayer.ma.us for more information and to register. Registration closes on Aug. 15.
