TOWNSEND — The Townsend Rod & Gun Club will host the lawn party to be held in conjunction with the Townsend Military Band’s Thursday, July 3 concert on the Townsend Common. Rod & Gun Club members will be offering hot dogs, hamburgers, Italian sausages, french fries, cotton candy, fried dough and popcorn for sale to concertgoers. Hot coffee, cold soda, lemonade, iced tea and bottled water will also be available for purchase.
Hats and T-shirts with the Rod & Gun Club logo will be offered for sale. An informational brochure about the Townsend Rod & Gun Club may also be procured at the July 3 lawn party.
Children attending the concert will want to purchase glo-sticks and play in the moonwalk set up on the common. They may also test their skills at the ring toss, bean bag toss and fishing pond games. Patriotic prizes will be given to successful game players.
The Townsend Military Band will open its patriotic concert at 7:30 p.m. by playing a fanfare and Goldman’s “On Guard” march. The performance of the “Navy Hymn,” the “American Overture” by Jennings, and Grundman’s “Blue and the Gray” will follow. The “St. Louis Blues” march arranged by Mille, “Victory at Sea” by Rodgers, “Musical Memories of World War II,” and Osterling’s “Nutmeggers” march will be played during the first portion of the concert.
Following intermission, the “1941” march by Williams, “Just a Closer Walk” and Cohan’s “Star-Spangled Spectacular” will be offered. “America the Beautiful” and Sousa’s “Stars and Stripes” will be performed before the Townsend Military Band concludes its concert at 9:30 p.m. by playing the “Star-Spangled Banner.”
