Give the gift of life! Be a blood donor!
If you are able, you are urged to stop by the Townsend VFW Post 6538 Function Hall at 491 Main St., West Townsend, on Sunday, June 29 between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. when the Townsend VFW Post and its Ladies Auxiliary will be co-sponsoring a blood drive with the North-Central Chapter of the American Red Cross and the Hyde family of Townsend.
The Hydes are celebrating the five-year anniversary of their young daughter, Emily, being cancer free and want to encourage blood donations so that blood is available to those like their daughter who may need a blood transfusion following surgery.
Donors must be in good health, weigh at least 110 pounds, be 17 years of age or older, and have not given blood within the previous 56 days.
Each presenting donor can register to win a pair of Red Sox tickets and each donor will be given a special Red Sox T-shirt.
The American Red Cross requires a positive ID before donating.
Walk-ins are welcome but anyone wishing to schedule a specific appointment or seeking more information should call the Red Cross at (800) 448-3543.
