The Garden Club of Harvard’s recent plant sale was a great success thanks to the wonderful weather, the crowds of buyers, and the efforts of over 75 Garden Club members. We’d like to thank the following committee chairs for their excellent work: Carlene Phillips (Perennials); Teddy Coffin and Fran Maiore (Annuals); Alice Gebura (Herbs and Vegetables); Chris Ready (Children’s Table); Barbara Heim and Deborah Dowson (Supplies); Marty Green, Connie Grabowy, Marie Finnegan, Joan Chu and Shirley Boudreau (Potting Workshops); Lois Frampton (Pricing); Rachel Oglesby (Tallying and Cashiers); Molly Cutler (Transportation); Mary Helan Vesenka Turner (Set-up); and Pat Edmonds (Wagons).

Special thanks also to: Karen and Don Green of Westward Orchards for generously allowing us space for supplies and potting workshops; our digging crew of Connie Grabowy, Marie Finnegan, Shirley Boudreau and Claudia Wesley; and the clean-up crews at the common and the potting workshop area. We’re thankful for the help of Boy Scouts Dana Cochrane, Matt Flokos and Ian Harrington who set up tables, carried plants and cleaned up; to Sam Dyer and Myles Rush, who pulled wagons full of plants to our customers’ cars; and to the Harvard Police for directing traffic and keeping everyone safe.

We’re especially grateful to Barbara Heim, Dorene Lewis, Jessie Panek and Kathy Jackson for their extraordinary support, behind-the-scenes work, and wonderful perennials and vegetables. We appreciate the many club members who cheerfully attended meetings, offered ideas, donated plants, worked at the sale and graciously shared their gardening expertise with our customers.

We’re all particularly thankful for the many people who supported the Garden Club by coming to the sale and purchasing plants to help keep Harvard green and beautiful.
