TOWNSEND — Laurence B. Bagley, 57, died unexpectedly on Saturday, May 24, 2008, at his residence.
He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Renee A. (Aubuchon) Bagley; a daughter, Claire B. Bagley, of Townsend; and a brother, John D. Bagley, also of Townsend.
He was born in Fitchburg on Aug. 5, 1950, a son of the late A. Dudley and Annie-Laurie (McClintic) Bagley and was a lifelong Townsend resident. He attended North Middlesex Regional High School in Townsend and later attended and graduated from Tilton Academy, Tilton, N.H., where he competed on the ski team. Larry continued his education at Ripon College in Ripon, Wis., graduating with a bachelor’s degree in political science.
From 1973 to 1976, he served his country in the United States Marine Corps, receiving an honorable discharge with the rank of captain. He was also a licensed commercial pilot.
Larry owned and operated L.B. Bagley Designs, a company focused on the design and construction of commercial and residential buildings.
He was a member of the Townsend-Lunenburg Rotary Club and had served on the Townsend Library Committee. Larry designed the recently constructed Townsend Harbor Fire Station. He also participated in the “Habitat for Humanity” program and volunteered his time to the Northeast Rehabilitation Facility in Salem, N.H.
Funeral services were held on Wednesday, May 28 at the Townsend Congregational Church, Brookline Street, Townsend, followed by burial in Hillside Cemetery, Townsend.
