GROTON — The Groton-Dunstable boys track team registered ten first-place finishes, keying an 84-61 win over Quabbin which improved the Crusaders to 2-2 for the season.
Tim Kurdzo led the way for the Crusaders by notching first-place finishes in the high jump (5-4), the long jump (20-3) and the 200 meters (23.8). He was also a member of the winning 4 X 100 relay team with Joe Dwyer, Brian Furciniti and Joe Calderan, that ran a 46.9.
Matt Carter and Mike Flewelling both enjoyed productive days and keyed the win. Carter finished on top in the 800 meters and was third in the 2-mile. Flewelling captured the discus with a toss of 111-0 and was third in the shot put.
Other Crusaders to win individual events were Dwyer in the 100 meters (11.6), Brian McCarron in the mile (5:06), and Nate St. Jean prevailed in the 400 meters (55.4).
The final gold for Groton-Dunstable came from the 4 X 400 relay team of Steve Nicholson, Tom Kenyon, Duncan MacLeod, and Tynan MacLeod, which ran a 4:03.
Other strong contributors to the victory were Calderan, who was second in both the triple jump and 100 meters and third in the long jump, and Alex Parrish, who finished second in the 300 intermediate hurdles, and third in the 100 high hurdles.
