AYER — Pauline Conley may have lost her bid for re-election to the Board of Selectman, but she’s already been appointed to another board: the Zoning Board of Appeals (ZBA).
“I lost a member appointment to resignation when Pat Walsh left,” said ZBA Chairman Dale Taylor. “As soon as I heard the results (of the election) I called (Pauline).”
Board of Selectmen Chairman Carolyn McCreary asked Taylor if he posted the open seat before contacting Conley.
“There wasn’t enough time, I only have three members,” said Taylor. “I don’t have a lot of time. Once the paperwork comes to us, we’re on a time clock.”
Taylor agreed to post the other open seat before approaching the board about appointing someone.
Conley was appointed to the ZBA, filling Walsh’s empty seat until 2010, by a 3-2 vote. McCreary and Selectman Jim Fay dissented. –Gayle Simone
