SHIRLEY — The Friends of the Hazen Memorial Library will hold a Book and Bake Sale May 17, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., at the library, 3 Keady Way.

The event will be held in conjunction with the town-wide yard sales to be held that day. It will occur rain or shine in the meeting room of the library at 3 Keady Way.

Many books, books on tape and videos will be available at unbelievable prices, along with delicious home-baked goodies. Buy a library tote bag for $20 and fill with as many books as it will hold. Individual pricing is available for all items, if you only want a few.

Cash and checks will be accepted, but no credit cards.

This event is sponsored by the Friends of the Hazen Memorial Library. It will to support the group’s fund-raising for library programming, museum passes and the summer reading program.

Volunteers are needed for this event. If you can help by baking, setting up for the sale or working the day of the sale, contact Cheryl at, or the library at (978) 425-2620. There is also a sign-up sheet at the library.

Set up will take place May 15 and 16, from 1 to 4 p.m. Workers are also needed May 17, from 9 a.m. and 3 p.m., to help with the sale and pack up books and videos remaining after the sale.

Baked goods should be dropped off at the library on May 16, between 1 and 5 p.m., or May 17, between 9 and 10 a.m.

If you have gently used items to donate to the sale, they may be dropped off, in a box, at the library between May 13 and 16. Items that won’t be accepted include encyclopedia sets, textbooks, magazines, condensed books or moldy items.
