AYER — The Ayer High Track Team is running to support the upcoming 4th Annual Janis Bresnahan 5K Run for Education. Many members of the boys and girls track team will run in the road race, in addition to students who signed up to volunteer for the event.
“This is the first year that the track teams have not had a meet scheduled the same day as the race. Many of the kids and coaches are excited about participating. We see first hand all the good things that the proceeds of the race provide,” said Peter McCarron, Ayer High Track Team Coach. “It also gives us a chance to show support for the Bresnahan family.” McCarron also organizes the “Miles for Myles” www.milesformyles.com benefit in his hometown of Lunenburg. (This year’s milesformyles will be held on Sunday, October 26th in Lunenburg.)
This is the largest group of track team members to participate in the Bresnahan 5K run since it’s kick off year in 2005. The event has raised upwards of $100,000 for the Ayer Education Foundation, the nonprofit that raises money for educational enrichment programs at Ayer Middle-High School and Page Hilltop Elementary School.
The Ayer Education Foundation is extremely grateful for the enormous support the benefit is receiving this year from the Ayer Public Schools staff and students. The Foundation would also like to thank the sponsors of the run for their generous donations http://www.janisbresnahanforeducation.com/sponsors08.html. North Middlesex Savings Bank is the premier sponsor of the event. Finally, this fundraiser (AEF’s largest) would not be possible without the dedication and generosity of the Bresnahan Family of Ayer, who chose the Ayer Education Foundation as the beneficiary for it’s annual 5k run.
The Ayer Education Foundation, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization supported by donations from individuals, businesses and organizations committed to improving the quality of education in Ayer Public Schools.
