Donkey basketball game: 7 p.m., Ayer Middle-High School gymnasium. Tickets cost $7 in advance and $8 at the door. Proceeds benefit the classes of 2008 and 2011. Saturday, April 12

Button party: 1:30 to 2:30 p.m., Historical Society Museum, 182 Center Road. American Girl Dolls and their friends are invited. The girls and their dolls will learn about different types of buttons and see some very historic and fancy ones. They’ll also be taught how to play some traditional button games. A $1 admission fee will also give the girls a chance to make a button craft to take home and enjoy refreshments. This program is co-sponsored by the museum and Lura A. Eldridge announces office hours

SHIRLEY — State Rep. James Eldridge, D-Acton, announced district office hours for the month of April. He encourages residents to join him during this time to discuss any community, regional or statewide issue.

This is also a unique opportunity to meet the representative, if you have not already, while he is in your community.

His hours for April will be held April 18, from 12:15 to 1:15 p.m., at Shirley Village Pizza, 1 Front St.

Residents who can’t Eldridge’s office hours, but would like to speak with him should contact his State House office via his legislative aide, Neel Chaudhury, at (617) 722-2060 or Neel.Chaudhury@state.ma.us.

Eldridge represents the 37th Middlesex District, comprised of Boxborough, Harvard, Shirley, Lunenburg, Acton precincts 3 to 5 and Lancaster precinct 1.

Membership night

The Ayer-Shirley Lions Club will host a membership night for anyone interested in joining April 21, at 6 p.m., at the Devens Common Center.

The group is part of Lions Clubs International, the largest charitable organization in the world. Much of its work revolves around helping people who have sight problems, including raising money for eye research to help eliminate baby blindness and diabetes-related blindness.

Money is raised through local fundraisers like the Railtrail Walkathon, slated for May 18, and a spaghetti supper at Dan’s Place, June 18.

Pancake breakfast: 8:30 to 11:30 a.m., at St. Anthony’s Church, 14 Phoenix St. Hosted by the town’s Relay for Life team, this fund-raiser will benefit the American Cancer Society.
