TOWNSEND — The Townsend VFW Post 6538 Ladies Auxiliary is sponsoring a poster contest for students in third and fourth grade, in conjunction with the Department of Massachusetts Ladies Auxiliary VFW. The theme is “America: Land of the Free, Home of the Brave.” The poster should be on 9-inch by 12-inch construction paper or on 12-inch by 18-inch poster board.

The Townsend Auxiliary will award $15 to its first-place poster contest winner, $10 to its second-place winner and $5 to its third-place winner.

The Townsend Auxiliary will submit its first-place winning poster into the state competition. The Department of Massachusetts Ladies Auxiliary VFW will award a $100 U.S. Savings Bond to its first-place state winner. A $75 savings bond will be given to the second-place winner and a $50 bond will go to the third-place state winner.

All poster contest entries should be submitted to Townsend VFW Auxiliary President Betty Mae Tenney no later than Saturday, March 1. Students attending the Squannacook Elementary School should submit their entries to Miss Tenney through their classroom teachers.
