NEWTON — The New England School of Acupuncture (NESA) has announced that Pepperell resident Lien Zayhowski has been awarded a Masters of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (MAOM) degree. To complete a master’s degree in acupuncture, a student must complete three years of study including a one-year clinic internship.

NESA offers three different master’s degrees. The MAOM degree is given to a student who has completed both the program in Chinese acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine.

Founded in 1975, the New England School of Acupuncture is the oldest school of acupuncture and Oriental medicine in the United States. Located in Newton, NESA offers several fully accredited master’s degree programs in acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine. In addition, it offers continuing education programs for the public and for practitioners of all forms of alternative medicine.
