Compliance stings will be conducted over the next five months

The Ayer Police Department will be conducting compliance testing stings on businesses in town that are licensed to sell and serve alcoholic beverages.

During these stings, a minor, who looks and is under 21, will attempt to purchase alcohol at every restaurant, bar and package store in town. Officers will also be checking the IDs of patrons in these businesses to ensure they are of legal drinking age. They will also be targeting adults who are procuring alcohol for minors.

These stings, and other prevention efforts, will occur at various times within the next five months.
