Spring Lacrosse registration

The North Middlesex Youth Lacrosse Association is having a registration at the Pepperell Community Center on Jan. 5 from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. for the spring of 2008. There are teams for boys and girls ages 8 to 14. This is a travel league. Registration forms are available at www.nmlax.com or at the Pepperell and Townsend libraries for mail-in registration. If you are a new participant, a copy of a birth certificate is also required. Registration fee is $100 before 1/5/08 and a spot is guaranteed. Each participant must become a member of US Lacrosse also. For further information, call Joe Pember at (978) 433-9116.

Ayer Youth Baseball & Softball registration

Ayer Youth Baseball & Softball is now accepting registrations for those interested in playing baseball/softball for the upcoming 2008 season. Baseball players of all abilities, between the ages of 4 and 12 years old (as of 4/30/08) and softball players grades three through eight are encouraged to play. All players must register online at www.ayerbaseball.com. Applications must be received by Feb. 1 to ensure a roster spot. Coaches and volunteers are also needed at all levels. Harvard Youth Lacrosse registration

Have you ever witnessed the “fastest game on two feet”? Are you interested in playing the fastest growing sport in the United States? Do you want to know more about the oldest game in North America? If you are interested, then you’ll be happy to know that registration for the Harvard Youth Lacrosse program is still open.

The registration for the 2008 lacrosse season has been extended until Dec. 31, at which point no further applicants will be accepted. Signups are for boys and girls U15, U13 and U11 teams. Registration is open to all boys and girls in grades two through eight, and you do not need to live in Harvard to play HAA Lacrosse. Interested players from surrounding towns are welcome to join in the fun. No previous experience is needed; all that is required is the desire to be part of an exciting, rapidly growing sport. We are also seeking adults who are interested in coaching or supporting the HAA lacrosse program in any manner.

Pepperell Little League seeking coaches

Groton-Dunstable Youth Lacrosse registration

Groton-Dunstable Youth Lacrosse registration is now open. There are lacrosse programs for boys and girls, ages 4-15. Please visit www.gdylax.org for more information. Registration closes on Dec. 15 for boys and Jan. 15 for girls. Stick League (ages 4-7, co-ed) closes on April 1, 2008.

Pepperell Youth Soccer registration

Pepperell Youth Soccer registration is open. The spring travel deadline is Dec. 16 while the deadline for spring intown is Feb. 1.

Baseball program at FSC

Fitchburg State College will host a six-week Spring Training 2008 baseball program for players in grades 1 through 12 from Jan. 20 to Feb. 24, 2008. Fitchburg State head coach Todd Lynch will direct the program in conjunction with Midwest Baseball Academy. Sessions are offered in advanced hitting and pitching at a cost of $99 for six weeks. Blaze Spring tryouts

The North Central Blaze AAU basketball club will be holding tryouts for the Spring 2008 season on Jan. 19 and 20 at Fitchburg High School in Fitchburg, MA. Tryouts will run from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. The cost to try out is $20.

Over 175 girls and boys participated on 16 teams in Spring 2007, and the Blaze expect even more growth in 2008. The Blaze anticipates openings in the following divisions for girls: 9u, 10u, 11u, 12u, 13u, 14u, 15u, and Junior Division (16u). The age determining date for girls in the Spring 2008 season is July 1, 2007. An example would be a female player who was 12-years-old on July 1, 2007 would play in the 12u Division or higher for Spring 2008.

The age determining date for boys is Sept. 1, 2008. There are grade exceptions on the boys side as well. Teams will be formed in several boys age divisions.
