Children’s programs
Tuesdays, 10:30 a.m., Infant Storytime for children aged 0 to 2. This 20-minute program consists of stories, songs and fingerplays for young children and their caregivers. You do not need to sign up for this event.
Thursdays, 10 a.m., Preschool Storytime for children aged 4 to 7. This half-hour program consists of quiet and interactive stories and fingerplays with occasional crafts and special appearances from the library’s puppets. You do not need to sign up for this event.
Thursdays, 4 to 5 p.m., Game Hour for third- to sixth-graders. This drop-in, after-school game hour is facilitated by teen volunteers. Play an assortment of fun games, including Set, Scrabble, Mille Bornes, Apples to Apples, Slamwich, Quiddler and Hoopla.
Jan. 8, 4:30 to 5:30 p.m., Teen Book Groups for seventh- to ninth-graders and 10th- to 12th-graders. The book for seventh- to ninth-graders is “Bloody Jack” by Terry Pratchett. The book for 10th- to 12th-graders is to be announced. Group members should read all of the book prior to the meeting. Preregister, and we’ll request the book for you.
Jan. 15, 4:45 p.m. Bagels’n’Books Group for third-graders. The book is “Lost Treasure of the Emerald Eye” by Geronimo Stilton. Join this once-monthly book group for a lively discussion and afternoon snack of bagels and cream cheese. Group members should read all of the book prior to the meeting. Preregister, and we’ll request the book for you.
Jan. 22, 4:45 p.m. Bagels’n’Books Group for fifth-graders. The book is “Five Children and It” by E. Nesbit. Jan. 26, 11 a.m., Circle of Songs with Hugh Hanley for infants to 7-year-olds. Back by popular demand, Hugh Hanley has been singing with young children for over 20 years in his work as an early childhood educator, music specialist and entertainer. Preregistration is required, and enrollment is limited to 75 participants.
Adult programs
The Brown Bag Book Club
The Brown Bag Book Club is held on the third Wednesday of every month at noon. Bring a lunch, and the coffee is on us. Drop-ins are welcome. The next meeting will be Dec. 19 in the Elizabeth Turner Room to discuss various poems, which will be handed out at the meeting.
