On behalf of the Open Space Protection Workshop Steering Committee, we would like to thank those who spent their Saturday morning on Nov. 17 in an informative process to discuss open-space priorities and goals for conservation and recreational land use in Ayer.

We would like to offer special thanks to the library for the use of its meeting room, Dunkin’ Donuts for supplying coffee and tea, The Public Spirit for its generous press coverage leading up to and at the event, and the Ayer Public Access Cable for recording the event for those townspeople who were unable to attend.

The work does not end here. Moving forward, two newly formed subcommittees will gather information and come up with an inventory of lands and potential uses and explore the funding and regulatory mechanisms needed to perpetually protect land for conservation and recreation when opportunities arise.

Public participation is still welcomed. You can reach us at openspaceayer@gmail.com.
