Dear Townsend residents, businesses, and the wider community of friends of Townsend, Mass.:

Sunday, Sept. 23, 2007, was the grand parade to celebrate the 275th anniversary of Townsend. And a grand parade it was!

We extend a sincere thank you to the bands, the float entries, all who walked with their clubs and organizations, the costumed characters and historical re-enactors, antique car entries, those who rode horses, the firefighters, and those who carried parade banners.

Thank you to everyone who worked so hard on the day of the parade by managing the assembly and disassembly areas, the bus drivers for shuttling parade participants, the Police Department, the Highway Department, EMS, and the ham radio operators.

And special thanks to everyone who came to watch the parade along Main Street and then attend the after-parade events and food court on the common.

The Parade Committee is very pleased to have had the parade produced with the assistance of Jay Bishop of “Event Central,” who has a reputation for designing parades that create memories of a lifetime. The parade was the highlight of a year-long celebration.

Together we observed Townsend’s history by viewing her 275th anniversary parade.

We love a parade!
