The North Middlesex Jr. Midget Mustangs extended their shutout streak to five games with a 32-0 win over the Division 2 Shrewsbury Colonials.

The Mustangs put the game away early by scoring on every possession in the first half. Mike Beliveau got things going with a 19-yard touchdown run up the middle as he shook off several defenders.

On the next possession, the Mustangs put together another long sustained drive that ended with Brian Magee’s 1-yard touchdown plunge.

After a great kickoff that pinned the Colonials deep in their own territory, the ferocious Mustangs defense got into the act as they sacked the quarterback for a safety.

Beliveau again found paydirt on the ensuing possession when he scored from five yards out, after a 30-yard pass from Matt Russell to Mac Flynn proved to be the key play on the drive.

The Mustangs’ final touchdown of the first half was a beautiful pass from Russell to Liam Coughlin in the corner of the end zone to up the lead to 26-0 at intermission.

The Mustangs’ only score in the second half was a 10-yard touchdown run by Billy Wilson, which was set up by great blocks from Joe Tierney, Ryan Deluca, Brian Croteau and Derek Tocio.

The defense recorded four sacks on the day, by Spencer Lyons, Wilson, Magee and Flynn. Jim Carver also had a key fumble recovery as for the second game in a row the defense only allowed one first down.
