Regionalization public meeting

The Ayer members of the Ayer-Lunenburg-Shirley School Regionalization Planning Board — Cheryl Simmons, Tom Casey and Ted Januskiewicz — will hold a public meeting Aug. 15, from 7 to 8:30 p.m., in the Page Hilltop School Professional Development Room. It will include a brief update on the activities of the Planning Board and the schedule of next steps through the end of 2007. The members will then answer any questions posed by the public and seek public input about the planning process and overall perspectives about regionalization.

Farmers Market is open

The Farmers Market, in Depot Square, is open for the season. It features locally grown vegetables, herbs, fruits and flowers. Come meet the growers and get recipes for bok choy and mezuna.

Clam bake

The Ayer Sportsmen’s Club will host a clam bake on Aug. 18, from 1 to 7 p.m., at the club, 255 Snake Hill Rd. Live entertainment will be provided until 9 p.m., and there will be pony rides, a dunk tank, raffles and prizes. The event will feature lobsters, steamers, beer, chicken, hamburgers, clam chowder, hot dogs, french fries and corn. The rain date for this event is Aug. 19, from noon to 6 p.m.
