Postmaster presents plaque bearing 275th special stamp

PUBLISHED: | UPDATED:

TOWNSEND — Townsend Postmaster Julie Dubuque presented the Board of Selectmen with two large plaques in celebration of the 275th Anniversary.

“It’s a little piece of history and something for you to maybe put on your walls,” said Dubuque.

One plaque had an enlarged stamp of the Liberty Bell. The other plaque framed a commemorative envelope marked with the special cancellation stamp designed by the 275th Committee.

Residents interested in the hand-stamped commemorative envelopes have until July 29 to purchase them from the Post Office.

After July 29, the cancellation stamp will be destroyed, in compliance with postal policy.

The Selectmen thanked Dubuque for the gifts.

“Happy 275th,” said Dubuque.
