Grant provides for recycling barrels in seven locations

PUBLISHED: | UPDATED:

TOWNSEND — The North Central Regional Solid Waste Cooperative (NCRSWC) has announced the installation of seven recycling barrels in member communities. The barrels were awarded to NCRSWC and the town of Townsend through a Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection Municipal Waste Reduction Grant.

The barrels are currently located at Rogers Field and the playground on Devens and at the town common and schools in Townsend. They are for the collection of all drink containers.

When recycling, empty all remaining liquid before placing containers in the barrels. Please only place drink containers in these barrels to minimize any sorting. Trash barrels are located beside all the new recycling barrels for other trash. Look for containers to appear at special events in other member communities, such as Ashby, Athol, Ayer, Groton, Harvard, Lunenburg, Petersham, Phillipston and Royalston. For more details on recycling visit www.MassToss.com. and www.Earth911.com.
