Yard sale for Jimmy Fund

The 2007 Townsend 10-year old Jimmy Fund baseball team will be having a yard sale on Saturday, July 14 from 8:30 to 1:00 p.m. at 49 So. Harbor Road, Townsend and 100 percent of the proceeds will go to the Jimmy Fund.

NM Football Golf Tournament

The Second Annual North Middlesex Football Alumni Golf Tournament will be held on Aug. 13 at the Sterling National Country Club, at 1:00 p.m. The cost is $150 per person and includes cart, lunch, dinner and 18 holes of golf. A portion of the proceeds will go to the David A. Woollacott Scholarship Fund. Hole sponsors ($200 per hole) as well as donations are accepted. Ice hockey skills, scrimmages

Ice hockey skills and scrimmages for Groton girls, bantams and high school players will start on July 8 and run every Sunday from July 8 through Aug. 26 at Conway Arena, Nashua, NH (intersection Route 111 and Route 3 at exit 5).

There will be three groups, including:

Girls 12 and under – 4:40 to 5:40 p.m.

PeeWee(second year) & Bantam boys – 5:50 to 7:10 p.m.

High school boys – 7:20 to 8:40 p.m.

The cost is $100, including hockey jersey. The coaches include Joyce Strong, USA level 5 coach, plus others to be announced.

This is a low cost option for summer hockey for these three age groups. It’s a chance to have fun skating and playing hockey with friends with the added benefit of practice time to sharpen skills and stay in good condition. Conway Arena is convenient to Groton and surrounding towns. We have openings in all age groups. The PeeWee/Bantam group needs one more goalie.

Summer Baseball/Softball Camps

Summer Baseball/Softball Camp for boys and girls ages 6-13 will be held outside at Pirone Park in Ayer. In the event of rain, it will be moved indoors at In The Batters Box, 410 Great Road, Littleton. These camps will be offered for six different weeks, the first running from July 9-13, and the final from Aug. 13-17. Each week the fundamentals of baseball and softball will be taught. Players will be separated by age and ability level to provide specialized instruction. This popular camp will focus on all skills, including hitting, pitching, catching, infield and outfield, throwing and baserunning fundamentals. There will be games for fun and daily contests. Camp hours are 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and extended hours are available upon request. Fee is $10 per hour. The camp fee is $150.00 per week/non-members ($125.00 per week/members). Instructional football camp

The 26th Annual Instructional Football Camp will be held at Gardner High School during the evenings of Aug. 9 & 10 (5:00 to 8:00) and on Saturday, Aug. 11 from 8:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

This three-day, non-contact camp is for players entering grades 9-12 in September. All aspects of the game of football will be instructed by area high school and college coaches.
