The high school sporting year is now in the rear view mirror and it is time to shift gears. June and July have enough events scheduled to keep me busy and then some, but August is usually a different story.

So I am asking for your help.

Because things slow down in August, plus the fact that I would like to take a couple of weeks off, I am looking to try something different. I would like to use August to write about the best games I have ever covered. That includes all sports.

I have some immediate games that come to mind, but as a refresher I would like to get some suggestions from the readers. I will now start to compile a list, but would like some of your favorite games between 1988 and 2007 to be on that list. They must have been games that I covered. If they were, I will be able to go back into the archives and try to bring them back to life again. Eventually I will boil the list down to five or ten.

The predominant sports that are covered in person include, soccer, volleyball, football, field hockey, basketball, hockey, baseball, softball and lacrosse. I have covered some cross country and track, but not nearly as much as the other sports.

I’m looking forward to this as it will serve two purposes. It will allow me to take some time off, but will also bring back some great memories of some classic games and athletes.

If you have any thoughts about this, either call me at (978) 772-0777 ext. 239, or e-mail me at If you were a member of a team, a coach, a parent of a team member, or just a fan, jog my memory about a game that sticks out in your mind.
