Over three days this August, I will be walking 60 miles in Boston’s Breast Cancer 3-Day to raise money for Susan G. Komen for the Cure and the National Philanthropic Trust Breast Cancer Fund.
Over the next few months, I will be spending many hours training. In addition, I have committed to raising $2,200 to participate in this walk, so I am asking you to make a commitment too. Please consider making a tax-deductible donation to help me achieve this goal. I’ll be doing all the walking all you need to do is make a donation.
Breast cancer is the second-leading cause of cancer death among women, and the leading cause of death in women between the ages of 40 and 55. Both its cause and the means for its cure remain undiscovered. Currently, one million women in the United States have the disease and probably won’t know about their potentially-fatal illness for another five to eight years. Increased awareness means more survivors.
I am walking in honor of my Aunt Pam, who is a survivor of over a decade, and in honor of my best friend’s mother and grandmother, also survivors. I also walk in honor of my cousin and best friend who are now at a higher risk of developing this disease.
Here’s how you can help: Donate online by visiting www.the3day.org/boston07/pamd, or write a check to “Breast Cancer 3-Day” and mail to me at 16 Walnut St., Townsend, MA 01469.
Thank you for taking the time to read this letter. I hope that you’ll share in this incredible adventure with me. Please call me or e-mail me if you have any questions.
