TOWNSEND — Maria (Maier) Johnson, 81, died Thursday, May 24, 2007 at the Health Alliance-Leominster Hospital.

She was the widow of Master Sgt. Samuel Johnson Jr., U.S. Army, retired, who died in November 1971.

She is survived by a daughter, Ulrika Collet, and a granddaughter, Maria N. Collet of Ayer.

Mrs. Johnson was born in Czechoslovakia on Feb. 27, 1926, and resided many years in Townsend. More recently she resided in Leominster and in Fitchburg. Mrs. Johnson had worked as a seamstress in the area.

A funeral service was held Tuesday, May 29, at the T.J. Anderson & Son Funeral Home in Townsend center. Please see www.andersonfuneral.com for additional information.
