SHIRLEY — The Shirley Education Foundation (SEF) put together a Father’s Day raffle thanks to the businesses and the prizes they donated:

* Turf Logic, Shirley: Four Application Lawn Fertilization program for up to 10,000 square feet.

* Captain Fishing Parties, Newburyport: Fishing trip for two.

* Shaker Hills Golf Course, Harvard: One round of golf.

* Hemenway Landscaping, Shirley: One free lawn mowing.

* Piccolino’s Restaurant, Shirley: Complimentary dinner for two.

* Schwartz family, Ayer: Car-care basket.

* Lambert’s True Value, Shirley: One cordless screwdriver.

The cost of tickets is one for $2 or three for $5. They will be sold at the Shirley Hoe-down on June 2 at the Common in Shirley’s Historic Center, M&M Market and various baseball and soccer fields in the upcoming weeks.

SEF helps children by enhancing the school curriculum through grant applications submitted by teachers. So far, SEF has helped fund “Smiley Miley” at Lura A. White School; “Bulbs: Big Surprises in Small Packages,” a science program by Adventures in Horticulture; Gross motor equipment for a rainy day at Center School; and a software site license for Shirley Middle School called “Brain Pop!”
