SHIRLEY — Due to a reporting error, the town budget request for fiscal year 2008 noted in last week’s Shirley Oracle was incorrect. The total budget voters will be asked to ratify at the June 11 Annual Town Meeting is more than $14 million rather than just over half a million, as stated in the article.

The correct figure is $14,011,620.

The total includes the school department budget request of more than $6.8 million, which includes operating expenses for the preschool through eighth-grade system, tuition for Shirley students to attend Ayer and Lunenburg high schools and out-of-district special education tuition and transportation.

The budget voters approved last year was $13,375,959. — M.E. Jones
