PEPPERELL — Attorney Ray Lyons appeared before the Conservation Commission with the final draft of a proposed conservation restriction on South Road property owned by Richard Ferrero.

The 15.2-acre Lot 3C, at 146 South Road, and the 2.2-acre Lot 3B, at 148 South Road, would become conservation land, with the commisson having authority to maintain the parcels and control any forestry activities such as the cutting of timber. Each lot is zoned for a single-family home.

“I would ask that you go forward and accept it,” said Lyons, who explained that the conservation restriction was originally offered to the Nashoba Conservation Trust last year. According to Lyons, no response was received from the trust since the initial offer was made several months ago.

Conservation administrator Ellen Fisher explained that she had recently talked to Nashoba Conservation Trust members Barbara Ganem and Paula Terrasi.

“They (NCT) haven’t decided yet, according to those sources,” said Fisher.

Commissioner Robert Rand, who was in attendance at a recent NCT meeting, said, “There was never any kind of group decision.”

“If we accept it, we will have a need to monitor it. That would fall on Ellen,” said Commissioner Patricia Rice.

“I would say yes,” responded Fisher. “Even with the monitoring of the other CRs we have, it wouldn’t be taxing,” she said.
