GROTON — During its Feb. 22 meeting, the Planning Board:
* Endorsed a plan by landowner Ralph Smith to subdivide property he owns along Common Street to create a half-acre lot from a larger 18-acre parcel.
* Released a performance bond of approximately $56,000 for the Deer Haven subdivision off Route 40 on the condition that catch basins along the access road be cleaned.
* Continued a public hearing for developer Steve Gillis involving the construction of a 10,000-square-foot office/retail building proposed for 536 Main St.
The board is conducting a site plan review of the project for which Gillis has successfully managed to address concerns regarding drainage, sewer connections and landscaping. Outstanding issues include parking, traffic and emergency-vehicle access.
The public hearing was continued until the board’s March 8 meeting. — Pierre Comtois
