SHIRLEY — The Board of Selectmen has completed a brief review of cherry-sheet estimates for fiscal year 2008.
Based on the governor’s budget proposal, released last week, the total effect on the town isn’t staggering, and the upshot is a net increase of $19,197 over last year, said selectmen Chairman David Swain.
With a total of about $6.4 million, estimated figures show a net gain. Swain said education aid is down by $16,270, but general government funding is up by $35,467.
Assessments are also up by over $40,000, he said. — M.E. Jones
