GROTON — The Groton-Dunstable Alliance for Youth is hosting the third of four programs in its 2007 Community Circle series. “Preventing First Use: Drugs of Choice in Groton and Dunstable” will be held on Tuesday, March 13 at 7 p.m. in the Middle School North library.
This informative workshop will raise awareness for parents, students and community members about strategies for preventing the first use of alcohol and other drugs. Additionally, the workshop will provide information on the types of “other drugs” that are popular among today’s teens, including an overview of the types of drugs, what they look like, and how they are commonly used. It will also provide an explanation of the effects and risks associated with drugs, the culture of drug use and its consequences.
Special Agent Tina Murphy of the Drug Enforcement Administration and Dr. Steven Liljegren, psychologist, will facilitate the program.
All parents, students, and community members are encouraged to attend or watch the program on Groton cable access. For more information contact Dr. Judy Robinson, GDAY coordinator, at (978) 448-6362, ext. 1132, or e-mail jrobinson@gdrsd.org.
