Main Street flags are flying in tatters, donations needed

PUBLISHED: | UPDATED:

PEPPERELL — The Fourth Of July Committee has been informed that the town’s American flags are in need of replacement.

Thanks to efforts of local Charter Communications technicians, there are over 200 flags that are hung along Main street in Pepperell on holidays or special occasions (Memorial Day, Flag Day, July Fourth, Labor Day, and Veteran’s Day).

However, the town flags are hanging by threads and it is time to begin replacing them. Simard’s Laundromat in Pepperell has offered to help clean the current inventory of flags at no charge.

However, many of the flags are in too poor a condition to survive cleaning and will need to be retired.

The Pepperell Fourth Of July Committee is asking for help from residents of Pepperell. A flag and support bracket can be purchased for $50, and a permanent record of the donor’s generosity will be placed on a plaque and displayed in Pepperell Town Hall.

Those interested in purchasing a town of Pepperell American flag may contact Jannine Kraus at (978) 433-5230 or any of the members on the Pepperell Fourth of July Committee. E-mail to Pepperell4thofjulycommittee@yahoo.com or mail to P.O. Box 533, Pepperell, MA 01463.
