SHREWSBURY — Different location, same story.

The Bromfield girls indoor track team moved up to MidWach C from MidWach D this season, but the end result proved to be the familiar, another league championship. On Wednesday at Shrewsbury High School, the Lady Trojans used their superiority and depth in the distance events to finish on top with 135 points, well ahead of second place Lunenburg who scored 71 points.

The Lady Trojans prevailed with strength in a number of events, but a sweep in the 1000 meter run was pivotal and provided 24 points. Senior Eliza Ives finished on top with a clocking of 3:11.69, followed by sophomore teammates Lisa Reedich and Emily Egan, who were second and third, respectively with times of 3:13.45 and 3:24.77.

In both the mile and the 2-mile, the Lady Trojans racked up 20 points by having the first, second and fifth-place runners.

In the mile, sophomore Jennie Ives finished on top with a time of 5:36.34. Junior Kat Long was second in 5:39.46 while senior Ellen Huber was fifth in 6:02.29.

In the 2-mile, sophomore Emily Jones prevailed in 11:10.01. Junior Liz Lee was second in 11:37.50, while junior Amy Valladares was fifth in 13:04.15.

The 300 meter dash was another productive event for Bromfield. Sophomore Katherine Finnegan edged Lunenburg’s Chelsea Hudson for the top spot by .01 second with a clocking of 45.06, while eighth graders Mimi Narbonne and Kim West were fourth and fifth, respectively with times of 47.79 and 48.24.

Junior Bo Dunn and sophomore Maddie Darden added a 1-2 finish for the Lady Trojans in the 600 meter run, Dunn blazing a 1:44.42 and Darden a 1:45.97. Eighth-grader Margaret Kibler just missed scoring with a seventh-place finish.

A pair of Bromfield relay teams, the 4 X 440 and the 4 X 220 also struck gold.

The 4 X 440 squad of Finnegan, Darden, Eliza Ives and Dunn rolled to victory by nearly 24 seconds with a time of 4:34.72.

Comprising the 4 X 220 team, which won with a clocking of 2:03.05 were Lexie Daniells, West, Kristen Olsson and Narbonne.

Earning second-place finishes for Bromfield were sophomore Daniells in the 55 meter dash (8.00), and the 4 X 800 relay team of Nikki Snyder, Rachel Leicher, Brittany Jones and Margaret Cardenas.

Adding the final point of the day for the Lady Trojans was junior Kathryn Kennedy, who was sixth in the 55 meter hurdles (10.79).
