Brown Bag Book Club to read ‘An Artist of the Floating World’

Tuesdays, at 10:30 a.m., Drop-In Story Time for infants to 3-year-olds.

This program consists of stories, songs and finger-plays geared toward toddlers and their caregivers.

Thursdays, at 2 p.m., Drop-In Story Time for 3- to 5-year-olds.

This program is a mix of quiet and interactive stories and finger-plays geared toward preschool children and their caregivers.

Feb. 3, 10 and 17, at 11 a.m., Saturday Storytimes for 3- to 7-year-olds.

Teen volunteers lead these drop-in, half-hour storytimes for children aged three to seven and their caregivers. They present a mix of interactive stories and fingerplays.

Thursdays, from 4 to 5 p.m., Game Hour for third- to fifth-graders.

This drop-in, after-school game hour is facilitated by teen volunteers. Children can play an assortment of fun games including Set, Scrabble, Mille Bornes, Apples to Apples, Slamwich, Quiddler and Hoopla.

Feb. 13, from 4 to 4:45 p.m., Bagels’n’Books Group for fourth-graders. Jan. 30, from 4 to 4:45 p.m., Bagels’n’Books Group for fifth-graders.

Our book will be “Poor Little Witch Girl” by Marie Desplechin. Join this once-monthly book group for a lively discussion and yummy afternoon snack of bagels and cream cheese. Book group members should read the book prior to the group meeting. Preregistration is required. Ask us to reserve a copy of the book for you.

Feb. 14, from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m., Create a Valentine.

We will have an assortment of wonderful supplies available for children of all ages to create their own valentines to share. Pre-register by dropping in or calling the library.

Adult programs

The Brown Bag Book Club

This is an adult, drop-in discussion group. Just read the book and show up. It meets at noon on the third Wednesday of every month, from September to June, in the Hapgood Room. Bring a lunch and we’ll supply the coffee. February’s book is “An Artist of the Floating World” by Kazuo Ishiguro. For information or to reserve a book call Ann Levison at (978) 456-3394.
