GROTON — The Friends of Groton Elders will sponsor a talk by Kenneth L. Bender, of Westminster, on Jan. 30, at 10:15 a.m., at the Groton Public Library.
An honors graduate in philosophy from Wake Forest and Suffolk universities, Bender will discuss the evolution of western thought from Aristotle to existentialism and give us an understanding of why we think the way we do. Bender has maintained a lifelong interest in philosophy while pursuing a career as a restaurateur, most recently at Daniela’s Cantina in Framingham.
If you’re looking for an introduction to philosophy and the works of the great western philosophers — or you’re a philosophy major yourself — here is a chance to review and discuss the basic ideas that have shaped our civilization.
Light refreshments will be served.
